What can you find from NB farmers in February? Even in the heart of New Brunswick's winter, our dedicated producers provide an abundance of local delights. ⛄️🌱

We all know and love our hearty root veggies like onions, potatoes, and carrots (stored fresh from fall harvests) but New Brunswick's winter offerings include fruit like crisp apples, wild blueberries, and cranberries, shelf-stable products like maple syrup and honey, and controlled environment offerings like microgreens, mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes — not to mention fresh and frozen meats and world-renowned seafood, of course!

We cherish these staples for our warm meals in the cold of winter, and they boost our local economy to boot. Support your neighbours by shopping local this month! What's your favourite winter NB ingredient?

With Valentine's Day just a week away, choose a chocolate made right here in NB. 🍫❤️

New Brunswick has a long history with chocolate: Canada's oldest candy company, Ganong, was founded in St Stephen in 1873 — where they're still headquartered today. Their beloved classics can be found almost anywhere, and if you are looking for a sweet treat for your special someone, here's a selection of NB's fine small-batch chocolatiers:

• McGuire Chocolate Company - Saint Andrews
• Adorable Chocolat - Shediac & Saint John
• LaRouère Chocolat - Moncton
• The Rustic Cheese and Chocolate - Moncton

Any chocolate from New Brunswick is a delicious way to spoil your Valentine; these local producers pour passion into every piece using quality ingredients and NB pride. Support our local New Brunswick chocolatiers this season!

What's your go-to chocolate indulgence for Valentine's? Tag a local spot or share your favourites below.

Whether or not the groundhog sees his shadow today, we can let the excitement for maple syrup season keep us warm until spring. 🍁❄️

Our local producers are watching the weather and prepping their sugar shacks. Soon, pure New Brunswick maple sap will be flowing from our forests.

Check with your local producer for upcoming events; there are farm tours, weekend brunches and festivals coming up around the province — like Saint-Quentin's local maple syrup-focused Atlantic Maple Capital Festival later this month. For now, let's celebrate with last year's stash. 🥞☕️

What's your favourite way to enjoy maple syrup? Share below and tag a friend who's ready for sugaring season!

Whether you participated in Dry January or not, maybe you just want to try something new. ✨

We have some tips for some alcohol-free substitutes: for those of us considering a break from booze, New Brunswick has delicious and satisfying options like non-alcoholic craft beer and mocktails with wild blueberry or maple twists. 🍸🍁

Are you celebrating today? Toast (alcohol-free or not... January is over tonight, after all 😉) and tag a friend who joined you. Here's to feeling great in February. 🍻❄️

Congratulations to anyone who did finish out Dry January 2026! 🥳🍾

New Brunswick winter comfort, a hot bowl of creamy seafood chowder on a chilly day... did I just repeat myself? 🥣❄️

Cozy up with this hearty classic, as simple as it is delicious (and perfect for chasing away the January chill) — there are so many fresh NB flavours to choose from: Atlantic salmon, haddock, scallops, lobster... 🦞🦪

Here's an open-ended recipe to get you started; almost every ingredient can be sourced directly from home here in New Brunswick:

Ingredients:
1lb/450g haddock + 1lb/450g Atlantic salmon, lobster, scallops or any combination of your favourite NB seafood
1/4lb bacon (about 5-6 slices)
4c fish stock (chicken stock works, too)
1 large potato, peeled
1 small onion
1 large carrot
2 stalks celery
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2c (125ml) 35% whipping cream
Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking:
• Chop bacon and cook in a large saucepan until crisp. Remove bacon and drain pan, but do not wash. Add back ~1 Tbsp of bacon fat.
• Add diced onion, carrot and celery to bacon fat in pan. Season with thyme while sautéing on medium heat for 3-5 minutes, until slightly softened or with just a touch of browning. Sprinkle with flour and cook gently another 3 or 4 minutes, then add fish or chicken stock and bring to a boil.
• Add chopped potatoes. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Add salt and pepper to taste, then add chopped haddock and cook 5 minutes. Add remaining seafood and continue cooking 3 more minutes, or until all seafood is tender and cooked through. Finally, stir in whipping cream and cooked bacon.
• Garnish with optional parsley, green onion or extra chopped bacon.

Who's making this tonight? 😋 Share your twists in the comments or tag us in your chowder photos.

Winter comfort starts with New Brunswick acorn squash! 🧡 Full of flavour and perfect for soups, roasting, or stuffing. That bumpy skin might look tricky, but we’ve got you. Here’s how to prep it like a pro:

1️⃣ Cut off the stem and bottom for a stable base.
2️⃣ Slice the squash in half lengthwise.
3️⃣ Scoop out seeds and strings (save seeds to roast if you like!).
4️⃣ Slice or dice for your recipe.

Now you’re ready to roast, stuff, or simmer your squash into a delicious winter meal. 🍲✨
